Tarek El Moussa has shared some insight into why he and fiancée Heather Rae Young ultimately decided to change their original wedding plans.

The 39-year-old HGTV star took to Instagram Tuesday to spill more details on his and Young’s decision to hire a new wedding planner ahead of their big day. He shared a video showing a montage of their final preparations for their nuptials and went into detail about what really happened in his caption.

“Yesterday [Heather] and I got our first sneak peak [sic] of what our wedding will look like… and of course I was looking at all the details and all the designs but really all I could think was how lucky I am to be marrying the love of my life,” El Moussa wrote.

The “Flip or Flop” star noted that he was able to tell that “something was off” with their initial preparations with their wedding planner when he saw how his fiancée had become “super stressed out” with just about everything.

“At that point we had already decided on the wedding location and sent out our save the dates, but it’s not official until it’s official and I wanted to make sure this was fun and enjoyable for Heather so… we decided to switch everything up,” he explained.

El Moussa shared with his Instagram followers that even though they already had a wedding venue, they decided to change it after falling in love with a different location. He said that he pulled some strings and worked some magic to surprise Young when he was able to secure their “dream spot.”

The television personality said that they scrapped their initial wedding plans because he and his wife-to-be wanted their wedding to be “a really fun celebration” that’s also special since it would mark their path to “spending the rest of our lives with each other as a family.”

El Moussa’s statement comes a day after the 33-year-old actress disclosed online that they had sent out a “just kidding” note to their guests as a follow-up to their invitations because they just made some big changes to their wedding plans.

In her Instagram post she uploaded Monday, Young revealed that they chose a different direction after hiring a new wedding planner and booking a new wedding venue.

El Moussa and Young first met on the Fourth of July in 2019, more than a year after the former’s divorce from ex-wife Christina Haack. They got engaged in July 2020 during a romantic boat trip to Catalina Island, according to People.

Last month, the “Selling Sunset” star commemorated their one-year engagement anniversary on the photo-sharing platform by writing a heartfelt message for El Moussa, whom she referred to as her “forever person” in the post.
