'Terrorist' blast rocks Moscow, airports on high alert

A bombing at Russia's largest airport in Moscow on Monday has killed more than 30 people and injured numerous others, according to reports.

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said in televised remarks that according to preliminary information it was a terrorist attack.

Preliminary reports suggest the bomb was detonated by a suicide bomber, according to Russian media. Russia's Health Ministry said at least 30 people had been killed along with 130 injured, according to reports.

The blast reportedly took place at 4:32 p.m. near the international arrivals area at Domodedovo Airport.

Russian media reported that transport watchdog Rostransnadzor said it had instructed all airports in the country to take greater security measures at airport entrances.

Amateur video aired on Russian television and posted to YouTube shows numerous bodies strewn on the floor of a smoke-filled area at the airport as what appear to be airport security personnel walk about.

An Investigative Committee spokesperson said experts were trying to identify the suspected bomber, according to a report.

U.S. President Barack Obama condemned the attack.

I strongly condemn this outrageous act of terrorism against the Russian people, Obama said a statement.

Medvedev said he would delay his visit to the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
