Russell Wilson’s 206 passing yards and two touchdowns led the Seattle Seahawks to a Super Bowl victory over the Denver Broncos. However, the second-year player wasn’t the only quarterback to have a big day on Sunday.

Tim Tebow didn’t play in the contest, but he was featured throughout the night. The Heisman Trophy winner starred in multiple commercials that aired during the Super Bowl. The T-Mobile ads were a hit and have millions of views on YouTube.

The polarizing quarterback has been out of the NFL since the preseason, and he poked fun at his situation in the commercials. Tebow joked about all things that he’s now able to do since he doesn’t have an NFL contract.

It didn’t take long for Tebow to get back in the public eye. Much was made about the New England Patriots signing him in the offseason to compete for a spot as a third-string quarterback, but the team opted to go with just Tom Brady and Ryan Mallett at the position. After his release, no other NFL teams showed any interest, and Tebow declined opportunities to play in the CFL or Arena Football League.

Coincidentally, Tebow’s commercials aired as his former team and replacement were getting blown out at MetLife Stadium. In the 2011 season, Tebow took over as the Broncos starting quarterback, leading Denver to playoff appearance and picking up a win in the first round. A few months later, the Broncos signed Peyton Manning and traded Tebow to the New York Jets. On Sunday, Manning threw two interceptions en route to a 35-point loss.

There’s a good chance Tebow’s NFL career is over. He was a free agent for the last year and no team took a chance on him. He still has a large following, though, and often makes news.

“It was one of those few spots that had a point, entertained and was self-deprecating. I give him high grades,” Jon Bond, CEO of marketing company Tomorro cqLLC said via the New York Post. “It’s good for his career.”

Tebow hasn’t taken a snap since 2012 when he had just eight pass attempts for the Jets.
