I need a sous chef that is creative, experienced in managing, fine dining background, Jen Carroll tweeted today. Carroll is the Chef de Cuisine at 10 Arts, Eric Ripert's bistro in the Philadelphia Ritz-Carlton. She previously worked under three-star Michelin chef Ripert at Le Bernadin, the classic French New York City restaurant for which he is best known.
Carroll wowed Top Chef judges and fans on the show's regular Season 6, where she was among the final four in its most competitive season. Although an intense chef in the kitchen, she was well liked by her competitors and had an easygoing, 'just one of the guys' attitude.
Not surprisingly, Carroll was invited to participate in Top Chef All Stars. From the start, she seemed like a different person, and even admitted as much, saying Welcome to Jen All-stars. She was quickly eliminated after a notoriously bad-blooded Judges' Table.
Let's hope for the sake of her future sous chef the 'real' Jen Carroll is more like the one we met in Season 6.
