Will "True Detective" air its second season in the summer of 2015? Get the scoop on the new season. True Detective

If you’re looking for “True Detective” news then you’ve come to the right place! Just like you we’ve been craving any “True Detective” spoilers we can get our hands on. And unfortunately Season 2 teasers have been far a few between – that is, until Michael Lombardo, HBO Programming Chief, revealed a tidbit of information about the sophomore season during a Television Critics Associate summer press tour in Beverly Hills.

Lombardo was careful enough not to give any major spoilers for Season 2 away but he did manage to quench our “True Detective” thirst when he hinted that “some announcements” regarding the upcoming season would be taking place next week.

“We’re going to do the next season with puppets,” TVLine reported that Lombardo joked. The HBO Programming Chief also claimed at TCA that “the two scripts we have are…more exciting than the first season.”

How anything could be more exciting than watching Matthew McConaughey (playing Rust Cohle) get tackled by Woody Harrleson (playing Marty Hart) is beyond us. But hey, has Nic Pizzolatto ever let anyone down? The freshman season was so exciting and drama-packed that the anthology was nominated for four Primetime Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Directing in a Drama Series, outstanding Writing in a Drama Series and Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. In fact, fans were so hooked on the storyline that both McConaughey and Harrelson were nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.

Pizzolatto responded to the prestigious announcement by explaining what influenced his Emmy-nominated story.

“Everything a writer writes is from a true place, but I didn’t take any inspiration from any real people per se, rather the job and the culture at the time (during the ’90s and early aughts),” the director said, adding that the Season 2 plot has yet to be set in stone. “We aren’t keeping secrets, there’s just empty rumors out there.”
