Tyson Foods Inc., the world's largest meat processor, said it will shut down a plant in York, Nebraska, eliminating 110 jobs as part of an ongoing effort to improve production efficiency, the company said on Friday.

The production, which ends in York on June 17, will be shifted to one of the company's other meat processing operations. Some of the production equipment will be moved to operations in Emporia, Kansas which employ more than 700 people.

Very little additional staffing will be needed at the Emporia plant to handle the extra workload.

Workers will continue to receive pay and benefits until June 17. They will be given the opportunity to transfer to other areas with Tyson plants.
