Italy's CGIL union federation is willing to cooperate on a development plan for Fiat, but it wants guarantees on jobs, its head Guglielmo Epifani said on Thursday.

From the CGIL there is no plan to create opposition because at this delicate moment we don't want any problems about jobs, he said, after a meeting with government officials and Fiat executives.

We are willing to cooperate but the company must adopt a stance with the unions so that problems are dealt with sooner rather than later.
