Caroline (Candice Accola-King) and Stefan’s (Paul Wesley) wedding night did not go as planned in the deleted scene from “The Vampire Diaries” Season 8, episode 16. The CW

“The Vampire Diaries” has been off the air for three months now so fans of the hit The CW series would be pleased to see a clip featuring Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Caroline (Candice Accola-King).

In the almost two-minute clip from the Season 8 finale, Stefan and Caroline are having a conversation with Damon (Ian Somerhalder). The latter is worried that Matt (Zach Roerig) wouldn’t get on board with their plans. Matt is on the phone with an unnamed character, and he instructs her to activate the evacuation protocol via a gas leak.

Caroline asks Matt if an evacuation is the only solution they could think of, and he tells Caroline that he couldn’t stop the sheriff. Matt also tells the trio to stay safe or they could consider the option of just leaving Mystic Falls. In the video, Damon is more inclined to leave town, but Caroline doesn’t want to do as she was told.

Towards the end of the clip, Stefan tells Caroline that he will just see her a few hours later. The younger Salvatore brother also apologizes to Caroline for not being able to spend their wedding night the way they planned to. Caroline doesn’t seem to mind. In fact, she also reminds Stefan how much she loves him. The two character exchange a kiss on the lips before Damon calls out for Stefan to hurry up.

According to TV Line, the scene wasn’t shown on the March 10 episode because it was deleted by The CW. Every episode for the series only had 40 to 42 minutes each, and Stefan and Caroline’s scene did not make the cut. However, the network decided to release the footage now for the sake of the fans who have missed the onscreen couple, as well as the other characters of the show.

Executive producer Julie Plec, who wrote the script for Season 8, episode 16, titled “I Was Feeling Epic,” also explained the network’s decision to get rid of the scene via her Twitter account. According to her, Stefan and Caroline’s sweet scene would not be included in the DVD for “The Vampire Diaries.”
