Things are NOT looking good for Damon Salvatore on “The Vampire Diaries” … and unfortunately fans are going to have to wait an extra week to find out his fate! Due to Thanksgiving on Thursday, Nov. 28, episode 9 won’t be airing until Thursday, Dec. 5. The good news is that we have spoilers on “The Cell” to hold viewers over.

At the end of episode 8, the fan favorite bad boy revealed a dark secret – that like Jesse, he was one of Whitmore College’s lab rats. Discovering a bag of blood in Dr. Wes’ lab labeled with a number, Damon told the bad doctor that he was number 20151. “Augustine,” says Damon. “Haven’t heard that name in decades. Thought you guys shut down 60 years ago.”

But they didn’t shut down, and Wes ended up getting the upper hand on a distracted Damon. Drugging him with vervain and locking him back up, Wes told the eldest Salvatore that he’s sure “Augustine will be thrilled to have you back.”

So, what’s next on “The Vampire Diaries”? Prepare for some flashbacks to “a dark time in Damon’s life!”

As Elena tries to fix her strained relationship with Caroline, she’ll begin to suspect that something is wrong with Damon. Concerned for her beau, Elena will turn to her new college buddy Aaron for help -- whose legal guardian just happens to be Dr. Wes. Eventually finding Damon, both the vampires reveal some shocking secrets. For Damon it’s a “terrible ordeal from his past that he has kept secret for decades,” and for Elena it’s “disturbing information she just learned about her own family.”

Meanwhile in Mystic Falls Stefan and Katherine will continue to grow closer as he becomes a support system to his struggling former lover. Still “trying to mask his own pain,” Caroline will hopefully save the day with “an unusual form of therapy.”

Episode 9, “The Cell,” airs on the CW on Thursday, Dec. 5 at 8 p.m.
