Vampire Diaires
Klaus and Caroline had a romantic goodbye during the season 4 finale of "The Vampire Diaries." CW

Mystic Falls came to New Orleans in episode 7 of “The Originals” – and now New Orleans is coming to Mystic Falls! Klaus will be leaving the French Quarter to visit his old stomping grounds in an upcoming episode of “The Vampire Diaries.”

TVGuide.com broke the news that Klaus (Joseph Morgan) will be returning to “The Vampire Diaries” for the first time since leaving in season 4 for his own spinoff series, “The Originals.” While the details regarding his return are scarce, Klaroline fans are hoping for a HOT reunion.

The last time that viewers saw Klaus and Caroline together was graduation night during the season 4 finale of “The Vampire Diaries.” In one of the most romantic moments of the entire CW series, Klaus granted Tyler’s freedom as a graduation gift to Caroline.

“He’s your first love,” the hybrid told the blonde baby vampire. “I intend to be your last. However long it takes.”

Morgan previously told TV Guide that his departure from the series wasn’t “the end” for Klaus and Caroline. And that proved to be true when Tyler showed up to exact revenge against Klaus in episode 7 of “The Originals.” While the fight between Klaus and Tyler was definitely physical, words proved to be more hurtful in this case. “What do you think Caroline would say of what you turned into?” Klaus toyed with Tyler in the episode, teasing that he’ll ask Caroline … when he calls to tell her of Tyler’s death. “Caroline is never going to stop hating you,” Tyler bellowed back. But of course Klaus didn’t care.

So, why is Klaus heading to Mystic Falls? And what can Klaroline fans expect? We’re breaking down four theories on the potential Klaus and Caroline reunion based on the original hottest supernatural couple – Buffy and Angel.

Vision Of Caroline In Trouble – In season 1, episode 7 of “Angel,” Doyle had a vision of Buffy in trouble. Angel showed up on “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” in season 4, episode 8 to help fight off a tribe from the vision. One theory is that Klaus can be showing up to save the day. Both Davina and Sabine have visions and one of them could pertain to trouble in Mystic Falls. And who wouldn’t love to see Klaus slaughter a dozen dead witches with a graduation cap again?

Jesse – In “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” season 4, episode 20, Angel showed up in Sunnydale to apologize to Buffy about a spat. But what he didn’t count on was meeting Buffy’s new boyfriend, Riley. Klaus could find himself in a similar situation.

Klaus could return to apologize to Caroline about his spat with Tyler. But with Tyler out of the picture it appears as if Caroline is going to find herself in the arms of another vampire … Jesse. We’d love to see Klaus show up in town and find that Caroline has moved on from Tyler – with someone other than him.

The Death of Sheriff Forbes – Angel returns in season 5, episode 17 of “Buffy” to provide comfort to the slayer after her mother’s funeral. Since parents and guardians in Mystic Falls have a nasty habit of dying or disappearing, it wouldn’t be too farfetched to say that Sheriff Forbes may end up on some vampire’s hit list. We could definitely see Klaus returning to support Caroline.

A Gift – Angel appears during the final episodes of “Buffy” and gives Buffy an amulet to help end The First Evil’s apocalypse. With the Augustine vampire appearing to be a big threat in season 5 of “The Vampire Diaries,” it’s possible that Klaus knows a little bit about him and perhaps has something that can help defeat him.
