'Vampire Diaries' Spoilers: Season 3 Questions Answered

The CW's hit series The Vampire Diaries returns tonight with a brand new episode at 8:00 p.m. Vampire Diaries left off on Feb. 16, and returns with episode 16 1912.

In tonight's episode fans will get to see flashbacks to when the Salvatore brothers were wreaking havoc in 1912. Cassidy Freeman, star of the former CW show Smallville, guest stars as Sage, a beautiful vampire who showed [Damon] a whole new way to exist. The latest episode will also find Elena (Nina Dobrev) and Matt (Zach Roerig) searching for evidence to link Dr. Fell (Torrey Devitto) to the murders in Mystic Falls. The CW's site also teases that Damon (Ian Somerhalder) will make an emotional confession to Stefan (Paul Wesley).

Fans who can't wait until tonight's episode can get their hands on some juicy gossip on what's to come for the residents of Mystic Falls.

Will Stefan and Elena reunite their romantic relationship?

Paul Wesley, who plays Stefan, told Zap2it that Stefan and Elena fans can rest easy. I think they have something to look forward to, to a degree, Wesley said of the characters romance. I don't think it's going to be like a walk in the park, but I think that at this point, they're open to a whole boatload of possibilities. The reunion might not be right around the corner. It's more of a possibility now than it was seven episodes ago, absolutely, said Wesley to Zap2it.

Is Caroline falling for Klaus?

This season Vampire Diaries fans have witnessed original vampire Klaus (Joseph Morgan) pulling out all the stops for Caroline (Candice Accola). The high school cheerleader turned vampire has been showered with jewelry, clothes and artwork from Klaus. With Caroline's boyfriend, Tyler (Michael Trevino), out of the picture as he tries to break his sire bond with Klaus, it's easy to understand Caroline falling for the bad-boy vampire. There has been a development between Caroline and Klaus, Candice Accola told Hollywood Crush. But I feel like it's been more of a tool of manipulation on Caroline's part. Everything has been more or less part of a master plan.

While Candice does admit that Klaus is tempting, she does mention that Tyler will be returning back to Mystic Falls. Julie Plec, executive producer for the show teased that a jealousy triangle between the three will emerge.

Who will Elena dance with at the annual Decade Dance in episode 20?

Elena will dance with one of the Salvatores, Nina Dobrev teased to Zap2it. I'll just say that. While fans won't know who Elena will dance with at the Mystic Falls Decade Dance until that episode, it has been revealed that her brother Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) will be returning for it.

Is Alaric dead after Dr. Fell shot him?

Before the Vampire Diaries took a break, the show left Alaric Saltzman (Matthew Davis) with a gun pointed at him by Dr. Fell, and a fatal sounding shot going off. Last week we revealed a spoiler that Davis said his character was going to pull through. Wetpaint.com is now releasing spoilers that the high school teacher is not only going to be alive, but will wake up in jail and be framed for the murders by Dr. Fell. According to TVGuide, viewers will also get a glimpse of Alaric's frat boy days at Duke.
