Verizon made a last minute announcement today that its moved up the launch of the Motorola Droid for just one of its stores in New York City.

Verizon's flagship store on 34th street in New York City will open at 12 am tonight for two hours to sell the Droid, the HTC Droid Eris, and accessories like the Droid's horizontal dock.

The wireless network provider will then open its other 2,000 stores in the country starting between 7 am and 8 am.

Motorola has been generating a lot of buzz with its Motorola Droid which is all set to beat the iPhone.
The phone will be $199 with a two-year contract and a $100 mail-in rebate.

The HTC Droid Eris will cost $99 with a two-year contract after a $100 mail in rebate, making it the most affordable Android phone currently available.
