Verizon, betting that its vast user network has been waiting for the iPhone to arrive, launched its first commercial touting the device on Thursday. (See video below)

The 30-second spot attempts to show how consumers have been anticipating the device. The phone itself does not appear in the commercial.

The commercial cycles through various scenes where digital and analog clocks show the time slowly passing. A person taps their finger impatiently, a woman looks up, hands are anxiously intertwined and then an announcer says:

To our millions of customers who never stopped believing this day would come. Thank you.

A young woman smiles. Thank you, the announcer says.

Then the screen cycles to a new message each time a clock ticks, as the commercial ends.
