Verizon began offering prepaid customers unlimited talk, text and data plans Tuesday.

Verizon offers 2 GB, 5 GB, 10 GB and now unlimited prepaid plans to give users ample choice. But there's a catch: Users on the unlimited plan aren't prioritized, meaning when they're in a congested network area, customers without prepaid plans will get their data requests filled more quickly.

The unlimited prepaid plan costs $80 per month, Verizon said. It includes unlimited talk to Mexico and Canada, unlimited texting to more than 200 international destinations and unlimited data in the United States.

But those on the prepaid plan will have to forgo perks with which the regular plan comes, like hotspot capability and high-quality streaming. The prepaid plan streams up to 480p and does not include tethering. But the upside of the prepaid option for some users is that it does not require a long-term contract or a credit check.

Other service providers like AT&T and T-Mobile don't slow prepaid rates until users hit a certain data usage that month. And T-Mobile allows users to use their devices as a hotspot at 3G speeds if they want.
