After two good scores and an amazing Saúl Ñíguez bicycle kick goal, Atlético Madrid stunned crosstown rivals Real Madrid 4-0 in a derby day matchup on Saturday at Vincente Calderón Stadium.

Midfielder Tiago put Atlético up 1-0 in the 14th minute with a shot from just outside the box that slipped under the right arm of Real Madrid keeper Iker Casillas. The goal was set up by a perfect lay-off pass by striker Mario Mandzukic.

Carlo Ancelotti's side, despite the return of star forward Cristiano Ronaldo from suspension, played most of the match behind, trying to keep up with Los Colchoneros. The atmosphere at Atlético's home turf was charged, the derby rivalry in full effect.

Just four minutes after Tiago's opener came a brilliant Atlético goal to stretch the lead to 2-0 in the 18th minute. Defensive midfielder Saúl scored on an overhead, side-winding bicycle kick that ricocheted off the inside of the left post and into the net. The 20-year-old scored the highlight-reel goal off a Guillherme Siqueira cross with a sprawling left-footed kick that keeper Casillas could only watch go in. Saúl, a 10th-minute substitute, was only in the match because midfielder Koke had to exit the match due to injury.

Atlético's third goal came off a cross the corralled in by bicycle kick hero Saúl. He headed it back to forward Antoine Griezmann who slotted the pass into the back of the net in the 67th minute to make the score 3-0. Saúl was hurt on the play however, and was substitued out after holding the back of his leg.

The fourth goal came on a beautiful cross by forward Fernando Torres and a one-time header finish by Mandzukic.

Atlético found success by playing directly and getting the ball forward. Real Madrid had 55 percent of possesion, but weren't able to calm their rivals aggressive rate of play.

It was a nightmare day for Casillas with Atlético taking 17 shots, eight of which were on goal. Real Madrid had just four shots and one on target to test Atlético keeper Miguel Moya.

It was yet another dominant display by Atlético against their local rivals. Diego Simeone’s reigning league-champion squad have outdone their crosstown rivals in the Spanish Supercup and Copa Del Ray over two legs. Atlético also won the last league matchup 2-1 on Sept. 13.

Real Madrid got a boost by the return of Ballon d’Or winner Ronaldo, who had been suspended for two games for kicks and slaps in a match against Cordoba. Los Blancos, however, were without injured key contributors James Rodriguez, Sergio Ramos, Luka Modric and Pepe. Real Madrid remain in first place in La Liga, while Atletico remain in third.

Real Madrid move on to play Deportivo La Coruña in a La Liga matchup next Saturday. Atlético will continue league play as well, taking on Celta Vigo next Saturday.
