Wall Street rose on Monday after the worst weekly drop for the S&P 500 this year as retail sales in March and Citigroup earnings topped expectations.

The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> gained 115.08 points, or 0.90 percent, to 12,964.67. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> gained 8.92 points, or 0.65 percent, to 1,379.18. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> gained 14.22 points, or 0.47 percent, to 3,025.55.
