Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has announced the “Injustice 2” Championship Series with a US$600,000 prize pool. Warner Bros. has partnered with PlayStation, ESL, GameStop, Twitch and many others for the tournament with the Grand Finals scheduled to take place this fall.

Pro Series Tournament (Global)

The “Injustice 2” Pro Series tournament kicks off on May 26 and will broadcast live on Twitch. The Pro Series, with a prize pool of +$300,000, will take place in the course of four months, and this will include both online and offline competitions to get the top 16 players worldwide. The 16 finalists will take part in the Pro Series Finals on Sept. 17 in Los Angeles. Complete schedule and mechanics are available here.

The GameStop Hometown Heroes (U.S.)

The GameStop Hometown Heroes tournament, that has a $5,000 prize pool, will be for gamers in the United States and will be operated by ESL. The qualifiers will start on June 4, while the Eight Regional Finals tournaments will take place in local GameStop retail stores on August 12. The GameStop hometown Heroes Finals will take place at the 2017 gameStop Consumer Expo on Aug. 27 in Las Vegas. Complete schedule available here.

Path to Pro Tournament (Europe)

For players in Europe, there’s also the “Injustice 2" Path to Pro Tournament which will be operated by ESL on the PlayStation 4 with a $20,000 prize pool. The tournament opens on May 20 for players in the Benelux Union, France, Germany, Nordic territories, Italy, Spain and the U.K. Those who are already participating the Pro Series will not be eligible for this tournament. The “Injustice 2” Path to Pro Finals will be held online on Aug. 19 with 12 finalists. Complete schedule available here.

Liga Latina Tournament (Latin America)

The “Injustice 2” Liga Latina tournament will be for players in Argentina, Chile, Mexico and Peru, and will have a $5,000 prize pool. The tournament will be operated by Gamelta eSports Professional League. The qualifier tournaments will be online and offline and will be held for each region stated above starting in May. The best players from each countries will take part in the Liga Latina finals on Aug. 13. Players in Brazil will also have a regional tournament, but Warner Bros. says that it will release more details on that “soon.”

The best players from these different tournaments will qualify to participate in the "Injustice 2" Championship Series Grand Finals that's hinted to take place in October. More information about the Championship Series can be found on the "Injustice 2" website.

In other “Injustice 2” news, Warner Bros. and developer NetherRealm Studios have revealed in a trailer the three new characters that are included in the game’s Fighter Pack 1 DLC. The upcoming DLC character are Starfire, Red Hood and, from “Mortal Kombat,” Sub-Zero.

Pricing for the Fighter Pack 1 DLC wasn’t revealed. “Injustice 2” will have a total of nine playable DLC characters. One of way of getting all of them is by purchasing the Ultimate Edition of “Injustice 2” which costs $99.99. The Fighter Pack 1 DLC is also included with the $79.99 Digital Deluxe Edition of the game.

The teaser trailer released by WB and NetherRealm also appear to include a teaser for the six other DLC characters. Fans at the NeoGAF forums have managed to see the silhouette of the characters by adjusting the brightness. Based on the heavily modified screenshot, the silhouettes of the characters are believed to be Beast Boy, Black Manta, Batwoman, Azrael, Raiden and Enchantress.

“Injustice 2” is scheduled to be released for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on May 16.
