Get ready for a quick delivery: Even though April the pregnant giraffe disappointed viewers Monday night, Animal Adventure Park revealed that once she starts active labor, a calf will soon follow. It’s good news for people who watched the live stream on YouTube since it was started by the update New York zoo in February, when they originally claimed she was 15 months pregnant and ready to give birth any day.

April, 15, exhibited strange behavior Tuesday. She didn’t eat much and walked around her stall more than normal. Her pregnant belly continued to swell.

“Morning Keeper report is that April continues to ignore grain and back end swell is noticeably larger than day prior,” the zoo wrote on their official Facebook page Tuesday. “We, like many of you, sat up in bed or were inches from our screens a few times last night. She keeps us guessing. Rest assured, all is well, there is no distress, no pain — she is simply (but slowly) advancing. From what we have been told from prior facility — when she has her calves — she calves very quickly — which has us all on our toes as it is!”

While the weather in New York warmed, April did not want to come out of her stall Monday. Still, the zookeepers wanted to get her outside. “Giraffes should get yard time today — though we will watch the skies — as thunder storms are predicted and Lightning is a bad thing for giraffes!” they wrote.

Before signing off for the afternoon, Animal Adventure Park shared a fun fact about giraffe stomachs. “Giraffes are ruminants, which means their multi-chamber stomach processes their browse differently in each area and allows them to regurgitate the food to be chewed again to gain more nutrients,” they wrote.

Stay tuned. A giraffe calf could be born at any moment. Click here to watch the live stream.
