Action star Chuck Norris delivered a "dire warning" to America in a new YouTube video, where the Internet folk hero contended President Barack Obama is eradicating freedom and pushing the country toward socialism.

In the video, unveiled by the conservative website World Net Daily, which can be viewed below, Norris' message to evangelical voters was to show up to the polls in November and help elect Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney.

"If we look to history, our great country and freedom are under attack. We're at a tipping point and, quite possibly, our country as we know it may be lost forever if we don't change the course in which our country is headed," Norris says in the video alongside his wife, Gena.

Gena then called on evangelical Christians to vote in November, claiming that their idleness on Election Day 2008 may have cost U.S. Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., the election against Obama.

"With our country at a crossroads, Chuck and I have asked ourselves what we can be doing to help support this great country we're blessed to live in and how we can encourage our like-minded American brothers and sisters to unite and let their voices be heard," she said. "It is estimated that in the 2008 election, 30 million evangelical Christians stayed home on voting day and Obama won the election by 10 million votes."

Norris, who supported former House Speaker Newt Gingrich in the 2012 Republican primary, invoked Ronald Reagan in the video, titled "Chuck Norris' dire warning for America - 2012."

"Our great president, Ronald Reagan said, 'Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn't pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected and handed on for them to do the same," the action star, 72, said.

The Norris video generated controversy on YouTube, where the clip has been viewed by nearly 80,000 people as of late Tuesday morning.

YouTube user flopress was a fan of the video.

"Great timely message Mr. Norris! Vote all of the progressive bums out, especially the failure in chief. Keep it up! Liberals are loud but they are worthless tax leeches," they wrote. "We have million [sic] of unemployed to take their? jobs for lower pay, who will appreciate having work."

User blackie1112 said they believed Norris is a hypocrite.

"Oh Chuck, I guess I will be? burning all your movies that I have... and plus your movies are strong contractions of your Christian faith. You have lost my respects," they said.

User Mistraker said Norris should not be taken seriously when it comes to politics. They said the action star should stick to acting and the fitness infomercials he's known for.

"No one takes you, or it, seriously. You are an internet joke, without significance or sway in the real world. Go back to doing something you're qualified for, like hawking exercise equipment? or being completely irrelevant," they said.
