A media firestorm this week stemming from a lewd photograph on Congressman Anthony Weiner's Twitter account caused him to pull out of a scheduled appearance in Wisconsin, Friday in an effort to spend time with his wife.

Weiner was to address a crowd of about 2,000 people at the Wisconsin State Democratic Convention; he was invited because of his staunch criticism of Wisconsin Republican Congressman Paul Ryan's budget plan.

Democratic National Committee chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz and Illinois Congresswoman Jan Scakowsky were also invited and will make the trip.

Last Saturday, Weiner's Twitter account sent out a sexually suggestive photograph of a man waist down wearing only underwear to Gennette Cordova, a college student in Bellingham, Washington.

Weiner could not say with certitude whether or not the photograph was of him.
