Westboro Baptist to Protest Joe Paterno Funeral: Other Upcoming Church Pickets

The picket was announced by Pastor Fred Phelps's daughter, Margie Phelps, on Twitter on Monday. If Joe Paterno would have resigned & picketed PennRape over Sandusky, God would have blessed & kept him, &he'd still be alive, she tweeted.

Paterno's death was announced by his family on Sunday. The 85-year-old football coach, whose shining career was recently overshadowed by child sex-abuse allegations against one of his former assistants, died after complication with chemotherapy. He had long battled with lung cancer.

As tributes poured in for Paterno, including sentiments from Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett, the Kansas-based Westboro Church planned to picket his burial service.

The church has become well known for outraging families in their funeral pickets. They have picketed at funerals of fallen soldiers in a bizarre aim to protest homosexuality within the military.

New York has become a prime target of their protest since same-sex marriage was legalized in 2011.

The church carried out a protest at the Harvey Milk High School in New York on Jan.24. Milk was an American politician who became the first openly homosexual man to be elected into public office in California.

Upcoming Westboro Pickets

The church has announced it will be organizing a picket at the Sprint Center in Kansas City on Feb.2 between 6.45pm-7.30pm.

WBC will picket Jeff Dunham at the Sprint Center in KCMO to warn this generation to flee from the wrath of God to come. Your entertainment industry has become your idol and is full of filth. Jeff Dunham, you have been given one of the largest bullhorns in this nation and have the God-given duty to use that to glorify God. WBC will also be picketing at the Academy Awards on Feb.26, outside the Kodak Theater in Hollywood between 3-5p.m

WBC will picket the Academy Awards to remind this nation that God hates your idols and that He will cast you and the Hollywood freaks that you worship into Hell eternally.
