The 136th Annual Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show begins Monday in New York City. The Westminster Kennel Club Dog show is fast approaching and now is the time to purchase tickets.

Hundreds of dogs and their owners will fill up Madison Square Garden Monday and Tuesday, February 13-14 for the annual event in New York City. The Westminster Kennel Club, established in 1877 is America's oldest organization dedicated to the sport of purebred dogs.

The first day includes Hound, Toy, Non-Sporting and Herding breeds and groups judged that evening. Sporting, Working and Terrier breeds will be judged on Tuesday and with Groups judged that night. Best in Show, the most anticipated award, is announced Tuesday evening.

If you're interested in joining the esteemed canine event, there are several options for you.

Types of Tickets

All tickets allow the ticketholder access to the benching area back stage of the Westminster Kennel Club. However, there are two types of seating.

Reserved seating, which cost $150 plus applicable fees, gets you a seat in section 100-228. They are good for both day and night events.

General Admission tickets do not give ticket holders assigned seats; it is first come first served for the sections 300-400. A one-day pass costs $45, or you can attend both days of the canine competition for $80. Tickets for children up to age 12 are $25 per day, plus applicable fees.

A small number of General Admission tickets are available on site at Madison Square Garden each morning of the show, but availability is not guaranteed.

All ticket prices include a $5 MSG facility charge and tickets purchased through Ticketmaster include a small service fee.

Where to Buy Tickets

Tickets are no longer available from the Westminster office, but they can be purchased at Ticketmaster. While Ticketmaster is Madison Square Garden's choice ticket vendor, they usually come with a hefty handling fee of $14, $15 or $21.

Dog enthusiasts can try StubHub.com, a place where users buy and sell tickets, and TicketFuse.com, which seeks out the cheapest tickets from various venues. Availability - and how close the actual even is - influences the discounts you can find.
