It seems like “Westworld” took a cue from its fellow HBO show “Game of Thrones” by featuring an extravagant four-minute orgy scene in its fifth episode, entitled “Contrapasso.”

The scene has gotten people talking, and episode director Richard J. Lewis said that’s the end goal they had in mind.

“We wanted to do something that’s epic. [Showrunners Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy] always wanted to do the biggest, best and most mind-blowing stuff, so we wanted to create the best sex orgy you can imagine,” he told The Hollywood Reporter.

To create the scene, which was held in the village of Pariah, Lewis said they hired some stylists to add a “medieval flavor” to the scene.

“We also had a sex stylist who made sure things looked properly choreographed in that regard. It was all hands on deck, to say the silly pun. We were trying to make things feel elegant and graceful and beautiful and strange,” he added. “You can't categorize it, because it's so uniquely strange and beautiful in a way.”

Lewis believes they did not cross the line with that episode, and everything is done tastefully and at par with HBO standards.

“I think all of us have a modicum of taste that keeps us from taking it too far into the pornographic world and keeps it in the sensual world. I think that's important.”

Despite this nod to “Game of Thrones,” Nolan and Joy earlier told Entertainment Weekly that they’re not going to have any crossover. Author George R.R. Martin actually brought up the idea to them before the show even aired - instead of featuring a Roman or Medieval World in future seasons, Martin suggested that they create a Westeros World filled with hosts that are characters of the well-loved series.

But Nolan and Joy had to shoot the idea down. “I need to believe that dragons are real,” Joy explained. “I want them be a real thing. So as much as I love George, I can’t lose that for myself!”

“Westworld” airs every Sunday at 9 p.m. ET on HBO.
