Former President Bill Clinton apparently had some meaningful words for Justin Bieber. After insulting Clinton in a cellphone video that went viral, the Canadian pop star managed to get the retired leader of the free world on the phone to apologize, later publicly thanking him for taking the time out to speak with him.

In a video that was leaked on Wednesday, the 19-year-old singer was seen urinating into the mop bucket of an NYC restaurant while his friends urged him on. “That’s the coolest spot to piss,” one friend says. “You know, you’ll forever remember that.”

Bieber then took hold of a cleaning spray bottle and sprayed a photo of Clinton that was hanging on the restaurant’s wall. Before leaving, he yelled “F--- Bill Clinton!”

On Wednesday, Bieber tried to remedy the damage by offering an apology to Clinton. E! News reported that Clinton took the phone call in stride, telling Bieber, “If that is the worst thing you have ever done, all is well."

According to CBS News, an aide to the former president confirmed that the phone call did take place, and added that Clinton had offered Bieber some words of encouragement. Clinton reportedly urged the singer to focus on doing charity and told him to keep a watchful eye on his friends, who filmed the peeing incident. Bieber in turn responded that he would love to help out the Clinton Global Initiative.

Later Wednesday, Bieber returned the favor by tweeting to Clinton and informing legions of Beliebers that the former President was a “#greatguy.”
