“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” survived its “on the bubble” status and earned a Season 5 renewal from ABC, but that doesn’t mean fans will see it in the fall. The show is not on ABC’s schedule yet.

On Tuesday, the alphabet network announced each night’s lineup, and Coulson’s team are nowhere to be seen. “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” will return midseason instead. That means fans should get ready for the longest hiatus yet.

In the Tuesdays at 10 p.m. timeslot, new show “The Gospel of Kevin” will premiere. “Marvel’s Agent Carter” showrunners Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters will executive produce the dramedy about a selfish man (Jason Ritter) who is chosen to save the world. When “S.H.I.E.L.D.” returns, expect to see it on Fridays at 9 p.m. EDT.

However, Marvel will still be represented in the September. “Marvel’s Inhumans” is set to air Fridays at 9 p.m. EDT, right after “Once Upon a Time.” The show will premiere episodes 1 and 2 in IMAX theaters first starting Sept. 1. When those episodes air on ABC, there will be even more exclusive content.

Though “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” first introduced Inhumans, the show isn’t directly connected to Daisy Johnson (Chloe Bennet) or the Secret Warriors. It follows Black Bolt (Anson Mount) and the royal Inhuman family of Attilan after a military coup. The family, which includes Maximus (Iwan Rheon) and Medusa (Serinda Swan), will flee to Hawaii.

After the eight-episode miniseries wraps up, Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) and his agents will take over the time slot. “We’ve turned Friday into more of a destination for our fantasy and science fiction fans,” ABC Chief Channing Dungey told reporters (via Entertainment Weekly). “‘Once Upon a Time’ and ‘S.H.I.E.L.D.’ are airing on the same night for the first time, which is giving many fans of both shows what they’ve been asking for for a long time.”

Despite being a midseason show, “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” will still have 22 episodes in Season 5. It just isn’t clear when those 22 episodes will kick off. While “Inhumans” will likely wrap up around mid-November, it isn’t known if “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” will premiere immediately after the new show finishes or if ABC will wait until 2018 to premiere Season 5.

Fans will likely be more than a little irritated that “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” is going on a long hiatus after that cliffhanger (Spoiler Alert: Leave now if you haven’t seen the Season 4 finale). After Ghost Rider used Coulson to defeat Aida (Mallory Jansen), Robbie (Gabriel Luna) mentioned that he knew why the Rider chose the director. However, Coulson wasn’t ready to explain that to the others yet. Robbie said, “I don’t envy you” before he left.

Elsewhere, Daisy convinced Fitz (Iain DeCaestecker) that the team doesn’t hold anything he did in the Framework against him. They’ll be arrested for Aida’s set up (she had a Daisy LMD shoot Talbot) together. When the government agents seemingly came for them, a mysterious man pulled out a little device that froze them all. He ordered his other agents to take the team, but we don’t know where they were taken. Coulson is the only one seen after that. He woke up on a spaceship, and he did not seem too surprised by it.

Fans will be left wondering what’s to come in “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Season 5 for quite a while. Luckily, Marvel Television has plenty of other shows to keep superhero fans occupied. Click HERE to check out what Marvel has planned for the rest of 2017.
