NBC TV series “Chicago P.D.” aired its Season 4 fall finale last week in which the Intelligence Unit took down a kid who was killing police officers. The case ended with the boy dying and set a somber mood for the team at Molly’s. But then the atmosphere in the bar was filled with positivity when Hank Voight announced that Patrol Officer Kim Burgess is joining the team after Antonio Dawson’s exit. If any character deserves to be in Intelligence, it’s Burgess.

Some “Chicago P.D.” fans are understandably upset to see Antonio Dawson’s (Jon Seda) exit. He accepted the job of lead investigator for the State Attorney’s Office. Seda’s character not only gets steady work hours, a better pay package and weekends off, but he also gets to lead his own team. It’s high time Antonio got a promotion.

Dawson will be seen in NBC’s upcoming legal drama, created by Dick Wolf, titled “Chicago Justice.” Seda is the only actor who has been seen on all four Chicago-based shows: “Chicago Fire,” “Chicago P.D.,” “Chicago Med” and “Chicago Justice.” He has been a cast member for “Fire,” “P.D.” and “Justice.”

It will be interesting to finally see Burgess (Marina Squerciati) working alongside Jay Halsted (Jesse Lee Soffer), Erin Lindsay (Sophia Bush) and other members of Voight’s (Jason Beghe) team.

The “Chicago Justice” promo above provides us a glimpse of Antonio working for A.D.A. Philip Stone (Philip Winchester).

All four Windy City-based shows will crossover in 2017. “Chicago P.D.” Season 4 returns with a two-hour crossover event on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017 at 9 p.m. EST on NBC. The second hour of the crossover will focus on new TV show “Chicago Justice.”
