Actor Michael Jace has been arrested for allegedly murdering his wife by shooting her in the face on Monday. Jace, 51, reportedly shot his wife, April Jace, 40, in front of their two children during a dispute at their Los Angeles home. Both children, who are under age 10, were taken to the home of a family member after law enforcement arrived.

TMZ reports the actor -- who starred on the FX police drama “The Shield” from 2002 to 2008 as Detective Julienn Lowe -- was arguing with his wife over their finances. Jace and his family faced financial hardships after he filed for bankruptcy in March 2011 in order to restructure and reduce mortgage payments on his home. While his settlement allowed him to reduce monthly payments, according to court documents obtained by TMZ, Jace went delinquent late last year.

On Monday night, authorities arrested Jace at the couple’s home after they were called there to investigate a shooting. In a news release, Los Angeles Police said, “At this moment the motive of the murder is believed to be domestic violence.”

TMZ reports it was Jace who called the police around 8:30 p.m., telling them, “I shot my wife.” He's being held on $1 million bail, according to police.

There has not been a lot of information released about April Jace. The couple celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary last June. On her Facebook page, she has a number of touching photos of herself with her husband.
