Kesha "had a lot of trepidation" about taking legal action against producer Dr. Luke, ABC News reported Wednesday. She accused her producer of sexual and physical abuse in a lawsuit filed Tuesday.

He was sexually, verbally, emotionally and physically abusive toward her, Kesha’s lawyer, Mark Geragos, told "Good Morning America.” Even though she was afraid to make the legal accusations against Dr. Luke, Geragos told “GMA” “she is strong.”

"When I talked with her yesterday, I thought she was enormously resilient about this,” he said. “She’s in a good place."

Kesha, 27, has alleged the abused sustained at the hands of Dr. Luke--whose real name is Lukasz Gottwald-- was so intense she “nearly lost her life.” He would purportedly “cruelly and incessantly” belittle her about her physical appearance.

It was reported in the past he told her she looked like a “refrigerator.” Kesha subsequently went to rehab earlier this year for an eating disorder.

But things are apparently falling into place for her now. "She’s in a place where she’s strong enough that she can make it work. She can stand up to him," Geragos said. "I mean, this is a frightening thing to have to go through. The date rape. The years of mental and emotional abuse. Those are things that I think anybody, especially at her age when this started, would be devastated by."

Dr. Luke has denied the claims Kesha made against him and filed a countersuit for purported defamation and breach of contract. He maintains Kesha made the accusations made against him so she could break their contract.
