Who Is Ninaki Priddy? Meghan Markle's Former Best Friend Claims She's 'Calculating'

Meghan Markle's former best friend claimed that the actress can be cold and calculating.

Ninaki Priddy recently opened up about Markle and what she was like when they were growing up. Priddy and the "Suits" star used to be very close. Priddy and Markle have known each other since they were 2 years old. In fact, they grew up "like sisters."

However, Priddy and Markle had a falling out when the former did not approve of the way the latter broke up with her ex-husband, Trevor Engelson. Markle's ex-husband gained the sympathy of her former best friend.

"What came to light after Trevor and I spoke ended my friendship with Meghan. I think everybody who knew them both was in shock," Priddy told The Sun. "All I can say now is that I think Meghan was calculated, very calculated, in the way she handled people and relationships. She is very strategic in the way she cultivates circles of friends."

In addition, Priddy revealed that the "Horrible Bosses" star can also be apathetic when she doesn't want a person in her life anymore. "Once she decides you're not part of her life, she can be very cold. It's this shutdown mechanism she has," the designer continued. "There's nothing to negotiate. She's made her decision and that's it. The way she handled it, Trevor definitely had the rug pulled out from under him. He was hurt."

Priddy attended Markle and Engelson's wedding on Sept. 10, 2011 at the Jamaica Inn in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. According to her, the ceremony was very emotional. The exes were very in love and even wrote their own vows.

When Markle started filming "Suits" in Toronto, Engelson was supportive. He even traveled back and forth to Toronto, and the ex-couple did a lot of Skyping and FaceTiming. As such, she was shocked when the actress suddenly told her that they were divorcing. For Priddy, Markle seemed to neglect Engelson when he was doing his best to make their marriage work. "After the wedding, it was like a light switched off. There's Meghan Before Fame and Meghan After Fame," Priddy confessed.

Markle's former best friend added that the actress has always wanted to be famous. In fact, she owned a book about Princess Diana and loved the "Princess Diaries" film. After they fell out, the two never talked again.

Priddy is a Los Angeles-based jewelry and accessories designer. She started her namesake jewelry collection in 2008. Her pieces are handmade. Due to her skill and talent in the craft, she received the Accessories Designer of the Year Award by Gen Art's International STYLES competition.

Her primordial forms collections are a combination of hewn shapes and raw texture. It's a reflection of her formal background in architecture. She has been featured in Elle, Flaunt, Harpers, Women's Wear Daily, Marie Claire, Vogue, Foam Magazine and more publications.

Priddy's testimony comes a week after Markle and Prince Harry announced their engagement. The couple is getting married at St. George's Chapel in Windsor in May 2018.
