The aftermath of the holiday season is going to be interesting when “Will & Grace” returns with an all-new episode next week. Apparently, the titular friends will find out that they are romancing the same guy. Elsewhere Jack and Karen are going to seek medical help.

Ahead of “Will & Grace” Season 9, episode 8 next Thursday, a new promotional clip was released online. The preview reveals that there’s going to be a big shocker for Will (Eric McCormack) and Grace (Debra Messing) when the new installment airs.

The highlight of the teaser is when guest star Nick Offerman (Megan Mullaly’s husband) drops a bombshell to the long-term partners. “Were you not aware that I was dating both of you?” the “Bad Boy of Bread” asks Will and Grace, who are clearly taken aback by the revelation. “Well, you live together. What have you been taking about for the past three days?” Offerman’s character, who is also named Nick, adds.

Based on the synopsis for episode 8 though, Will and Grace will try to convince themselves that it’s really okay for them to date the same guy. They’ll try to see the advantages of sharing a lover. Whether this will be a long-term arc between the best friends or not remains to be seen.

Should this turn into a longer storyline, Mullaly and Offerman would surely be pleased with this since this would mean the couple would get more on-set and off-set time with each other. The “Parks and Recreation” star after all gushed back in October that he likes hanging out with his wife even when she’s working.

“You mean my Ph.D. program? Yes, I go to every possible taping, because it’s better than any ice cream I’ve ever tasted. And I am dead serious about my love of ice cream,” Offerman told Today in an interview.

Meanwhile, Sean Hayes’ Jack and Mullaly’s Karen will seek professional help for a very pathetic reason in “Will & Grace” Season 9, episode 8. The two will find themselves getting annoyed by a commercial jingle at the start of the episode. Making things worse for them is the fact that the jingle will get stuck in their heads and cause them to engage in a physical fight in the elevator.

“Will & Grace” Season 9, episode 8, titled “Friends and Lover,” is set to air on Jan. 3, Thursday, at 9/8c on NBC.
