WWE and 2K Games have announced 19 superstars for the upcoming “WWE 2K16,” three of whom will be making their debut in video game form, while the others will be returning from previous games. The 19 characters included are an interesting mix of modern day superstars from Raw and Smackdown, divas, legends and NXT trainees.

The first seven superstars this week were revealed on the Smack Network Facebook page. Superstars include “The Icon” Sting, Neville, Roman Reigns, Kevin Owens, Hideo Itami, Tyler Breeze and Stardust. This is the first game for Owens, Itami, Breeze and Stardust, though the latter was technically in previous games under the Cody Rhodes persona. Reigns, Neville and Sting will also come with updated attires.

Twelve more superstars were later revealed, as reported by IGN, as part of a weekly showcase for the game’s roster, along with the seven wrestlers mentioned above. The rest of the superstars are Adam Rose, Bo Dallas, The Bella Twins, Brock Lesnar, Goldust, Heath Slater, Jack Swagger, Ric Flair, Sami Zayn, Ultimate Warrior and Zack Ryder. Most of these superstars are returning from “WWE 2K15” with the exception of Zack Ryder and Heath Slater, who were omitted from last year’s game.

A total of 38 superstars have been revealed so far, with 2K promising a roster of 120 unique characters. The publisher has promised that the 120-character roster would all be different, so fans will not see three versions of Mark Henry or Sheamus like they did with last year’s game.

Numerous gameplay improvements have been made to the title as well, with new reversal animations, a revamped kick-out meter and an all-new submission mini-game. Reversals will also be more limited in this year’s game, as players will have to recharge them and save them for the opponent’s more devastating moves.

“WWE 2K16” is slated for an Oct. 27 release, and will be available for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One and Xbox 360.
