Xiaomi has confirmed that it will officially debut the Mi Mix 2 smartphone on Sept. 11 in Beijing, China. The company has also released a teaser poster for the upcoming event, hinting at the device’s bezel-less design.

The poster for Xiaomi’s upcoming Sept. 11 event was shared online via the Chinese social network Weibo. The poster doesn’t really show the Mi Mix 2 itself, but it does include an outline of the device touting that it won’t have any bezels. The poster also mentions that it will have a 2.0 bezel-less display, as pointed out by Fone Arena.

The date that Xiaomi has selected to unveil the Mi Mix 2 is significant since Apple is expected to hold its iPhone 8 event the following day on Sept. 12. Perhaps Xiaomi is attempting to steal some of the thunder of the iPhone 8 by launching the Mi Mix 2 one day prior to Apple’s event.

Xiaomi has already confirmed that the Mi Mix 2 will be designed by French designer Philippe Starck, the same person behind the design of the original Mi Mix from last year. It’s widely believed that the Mi Mix 2 will once again arrive with a ceramic and metallic build. Starck also shared a short video on his Facebook page showing the possible final design of the Mi Mix 2.

The Chinese phone maker has also released several teaser images of the Mi Mix 2 prior to announcing the Sept. 11 event, and it looks like it’s going to completely remove the bottom bezel that was present in the first-generation Mi Mix.

IBT also reported earlier this month that a supposed render of a Mi Mix 2 prototype was leaked online. The image shows that the device will have an all-screen design and appears to not have a front-facing camera. The bottom bezel of the original Mi Mix was necessary to house its front-facing camera.

Xiaomi has mostly been quiet about the rest of the specifications of the Mi Mix 2, but previous rumors and leaks have already painted a promising picture for the upcoming device. The Mi Mix 2 is believed to have a 6.4-inch quad HD 1440p display while the device will be powered by a Snapdragon 835 processor with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. It was also rumored previously that the Mi Mix 2 will have a second model with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

For cameras, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 might arrive with a 19-megapixel camera on the back, while up front, the device will have a 13-megapixel camera, according to Android Central. Although the leaked render of the prototype doesn’t have an apparent front-facing camera, it’s being speculated that the camera might be located underneath the display itself.

On the software side of things, the device is expected to run Android 7.1.1 Nougat straight out of the box along with Xiaomi’s proprietary MIUI 9 skin. The Mi Mix 2 is rumored to cost 3,999 Yuan (around US$599) for the 128GB model, while the 256GB model is said to cost 4,999 Yuan (around $US$749).
