Yahoo Inc.'s popular online-mail service, Yahoo! Mail, captured the majority of online display ads in August, latest data indicates.
Yahoo! Mail captured 41.4 percent of online display ads last month, drawing nearly three times as many display ads as its closest competitor, social networking site, Myspace.com, Nielsen/NetRatings reports.
MSN Hotmail was the third most popular, with 7.8 percent of display ads.
Internet Search advertising sales were on par with display advertising for the first
half of 2006, TNS Media Intelligence also said. Advertising grew nearly 20 percent to $4.7 billion while paid search also generated $4.7 billion in spending.
