Abby and Jack on "The Young and the Restless"

She had been searching for a way to stand out after always being the black sheep in both of her powerful families, and now that she’s been handed a position of power, Abby will relish her new status on the Tuesday, April 18 episode of “The Young and the Restless.”

Abby (Melissa Ordway) has felt left out at Newman for a long time because her other siblings were always given more priority since they were not also Abbots. But now that Victor (Eric Braden) has unexpectedly left town and appointed her as acting CEO of the company in his absence, she is ecstatic. And in a preview clip for the CBS soap, she’ll be unable to keep herself from gloating to her sister, Victoria (Amelia Heinle).

“Where's dad?” Victoria asks.

“Out of town, and you’ll never guess what he did before he left,” Abby replies.

However, her joy will be partially short-lived, as Victoria will not only not congratulate her, but will also leave her with a warning that she shouldn’t get too comfortable in the position, nor should she think much about Victor giving it to her, because he won’t hesitate to snatch it away from her again as quickly as he handed it over. She will then hand over the keys to the car Victor gifted Reed (Tristan lake Leabu) for his birthday and leave.

Abby may be offended by the lack of support from her sister, but she won’t know the reason behind Victoria’s shocking dismissal. Victoria is one of only a few members of the family who knows about Victor’s role in Adam’s death, because of his collusion with Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson). To save face and protect the various interests of their family, she, Nick (Joshua Morrow) and Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) have all privately disowned Victor, but are not sharing this with anyone else, or showing their unhappiness with him in public. However, the secret is continually grating on Victoria, as she has now had altercations with Abby, Reed and Billy (Jason Thompson), all of whom can’t figure out why she has suddenly become more cold and distant than ever before.

“The Young and the Restless” airs weekdays at 12:30 p.m. EDT on CBS.
