A 100-year-old Brazilian man broke the Guinness World Records for “the longest career in the same company.”

Walter Orthmann first worked at “Industrias Renaux S.A.,” which is now known as ReneauxView. He started as a shipping assistant when he was only 15 years old, he was then promoted to a sales position, and then made his way to sales manager, which is still his current role.

"Walter believes that the best part about having a job is that it gives you a sense of purpose, commitment and a routine," the Guinness World Records said Wednesday in a statement.

The record was verified in January.

Orthmann started working at ReneauxView on Jan. 17, 1938. He turned 100 years old on April 19, according to Guinness World Records.

"I don’t do much planning, nor care much about tomorrow. All I care about is that tomorrow will be another day in which I will wake up, get up, exercise and go to work; you need to get busy with the present, not the past or the future. Here and now is what counts. So, let’s go to work!" Orthmann said in the release.

Orthmann was hired at such a young age because of his strong ability to speak German. He was born in Brusque, a small town in Santa Catarina, Brazil, which has a large German population.

Orthmann was able to travel to multiple places for his job, which he explained is what made him fall in love with it.

"In the fifties, he started traveling across the country and had the opportunity to meet people from different places and cultures. He fell in love with being constantly on the move and establishing good relationships with clients who became friends," the Guinness World Records said.
