23-Year-Old Instagram Star Nubia Cristina Braga Found Dead 'In A Pool Of Blood'

Brazilian influencer Nubia Cristina Braga has been shot dead at her home in Santa Maria in Aracaju, Sergipe State, Brazil.

The 23-year-old Instagram star had just arrived from a hair salon before being murdered by unidentified gunmen. Braga's body was found inside her home at 9 p.m. on Oct. 14, three hours after she shared on her Instagram Stories that she was at a hair salon, as per a police report.

"Shortly after she arrived, two men rode up on motorcycles and entered Braga's property through the open front door," the report read. Two unknown assailants entered through the unlocked front door of her home when she arrived and shot her multiple times before fleeing on a motorbike. Cops arrived at the property only to find the victim lying "dead in a pool of blood."

The police have since opened a murder investigation to identify the two masked killers, whose identities and motivations for killing Braga remain unknown. Authorities are also appealing to people with any information to come forward.

Braga's family is shocked by the influencer's death. According to Brazilian news portal G1, Claudia Menezes, the influencer's aunt, told the police they had no idea who murdered her, NDTV reported. "We want to know why they did this to Nubia," she said, adding that she and their other relatives were unaware of the possibility that Braga was receiving death threats prior to her demise.

"Nubia never said anything if she was being threatened," she told G1, adding that Nubia was active in volunteer work and helped everyone. "She left a legacy behind."

The news of Braga's death also came as a shock to her nearly 60,000 Instagram followers, who took to the comments section of her last Instagram post to express their sadness over her sudden passing.

"My Jesus, the woman only posted a story 3 hours ago and was brutally murdered, only God can comfort her family and friends," one follower wrote. "I can't believe her departure," another wrote.

Braga was popular for her social media content on beauty and fashion. She was also passionate about traveling and managed her own clothing store.
