A Florida woman was arrested for the death of a fellow gym member whom she shot and killed over the weekend.

Coral Springs Police responded to a 911 call just before 6:00 a.m. Saturday after 51-year-old Yvonne Serrano reported of an “unknown woman” in her driveway.

Officers were immediately dispatched to 1659 NW 100th Drive and discovered the victim, Daniela Tabares Maya. The 21-year-old was pronounced dead from a single bullet wound on her forehead, said the Sun-Sentinel.

Maya's lifeless body was found next to Serrano's Nissan Kicks. The car's driver's side was still open with the victim's right foot still inside the car, it added.

Maya and Serrano were part of a “large group of friends” who went to see the movie, “21 Bridges” and later went out for drinks at World of Beer, said a police affidavit.

A surveillance video from the gastropub showed the victim and the suspect together between 9:43 p.m. Friday and 1:25 a.m. Saturday. Furthermore, both women were “conversing, laughing and drinking for several hours” before leaving the bar together, the affidavit added.

Maya drove Serrano home and a separate surveillance footage showed them pulling into the driveway around 2:00 a.m.

Before calling 911, Serrano deleted her Ring camera footage and washed her clothes. She also told authorities that she blacked out and had no idea how she got home and that she woke up in her bed.

The police affidavit then pointed that Serrano “changed her story” and told police that she woke up in the passenger seat of Maya's car where she saw Maya's body. She then called 911 after checking the body for a pulse and didn't find one.

Serrano also told police that she had a concealed weapons permit and owned two 9mm handguns and a .45 caliber handgun. In addition, the suspect said that she carried her Sig Sauer P365 with her to the bar.

Law enforcers found a 9mm shell casing on the passenger side of Maya's car, while Serrano's gun and holster tested for human blood.

Serrano was charged with tampering with physical evidence and murder in the second degree. She is currently being held at the Broward County Jail.
