A 7-year-old boy in the Philadelphia suburb of Chester, Pennsylvania, was killed Sunday by an apparent stray bullet from a drive-by shooting. The boy, Sinsir Parker, was shot in the face and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The boy was shot on the street in a residential area of Chester. Residents reported hearing up to 15 gunshots.

“I heard it come across the scanner and the ring that it was a drive-by,” a local resident told ABC affiliate WPVI. “I called my local friends on the block and they said two cars came down and just rang out about 15 shots and a little boy caught the bullet in the head.”

Police responded to the shooting at about 9:20 p.m. The Philadelphia Inquirer reported that hours after the shooting, detectives had recovered a vehicle involved, a stolen black Corvette.

The identity of the shooter and the intended target remain unknown.

Chester police do not have any suspects in the shooting and are calling on anyone with information to reach out to authorities. Individuals with information should reach out to Chester Police Detective Victor Heness at (610) 447-8429 or vheness245@chesterpolice.org, or Delaware County Detective Daniel McFarland at (610) 891-4716.

The fatality marks the 14th homicide in Chester since the start of 2020.

Hours earlier, two men were shot within 3 miles from where the boy was shot. Both survived and police say the shooting was unrelated to the drive-by.

Chester is located about 20 miles from Philadelphia and is the largest city in Pennsylvania’s Delaware County, with an estimated population of nearly 34,000.
