Not only do more than 90 percent of all Fortune 500 companies have policies against discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation, but for the first time, 61 percent also included gender identity protections in their company policies, according to the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s Corporate Equality Index 2014.

Not only is corporate America becoming increasingly LGBT-friendly, corporations’ understanding of LGBT issues appears to be getting more nuanced.

Many companies also offer additional protections and benefits to their LGBT employees, like health benefits for same-sex partners and transgender-inclusive health benefits. A few companies are also making the effort to educate their employees on LGBT issues.
