  • Man Utd are certain to sign Villa's Jack Grealish this summer
  • Grealish has become Man Utd's top target after Sancho's deal fell through
  • Grealish's asking price is expecting to be around $93 million

Jadon Sancho, who was Manchester United’s top target this summer, will remain at Dortmund for another 12 months, the German club has announced.

With Sancho’s deal failed, Man Utd reportedly are stepping up efforts to sign Aston Villa’s captain Jack Grealish, whose transfer fee is expected to be around $93 million ahead of the summer transfer window. Grealish’s asking price is cheaper in comparison to Sancho’s $124 million.

While Sancho is unsure about his immediate future, Dortmund chiefs are hoping that the 20-year-old midfielder would stay at the club for the next season as well. Dortmund’s head of soccer Sebastian Kehl has said they are assuming Sancho will continue with them amid being heavily linked with a move to Man Utd in the near future.

“At the moment we continue to assume that he will play and stay at Borussia Dortmund next season. Regarding the rumors, I can say that there is nothing to it,” Kehl said in a recent interview.

Man Utd executive chairman Ed Woodward’s mission is to sign young English talent this transfer market and now, he is certain to bring 24-year-old Grealish to Old Trafford, as reported by Daily Star. Before the coronavirus outbreak halted the season in March, Grealish had scored nine goals for Villa in as many as 31 games across tournaments, including seven in the Premier League. The winger was also on the verge of England debut before the pandemic suspended international soccer as well.

The Birmingham-born player has made himself clear that he wants to leave his boyhood club even if Aston Villa, who are currently placed 19th in the Premier League table, escape getting relegated to Championship at the end of this season.

Former Aston Villa striker Kevin Phillips has insisted that even though Grealish would want to be “one of those Steven Gerrards” and spend his entire career at Villa, an interest from Man Utd would be too good to turn down.

“I am not sure about this because Jack Grealish loves Villa so much so it really would not surprise me if he wants to stay with his boyhood club in the Premier League. I can see him being one of those Steven Gerrards."

"On the other hand, Manchester United look like they are really going to have a go and sign some players to get them back to where they once were. It is difficult. If I am Jack Grealish and I had the chance to go to Manchester United, I would go. Simple as that. No matter what league I am in,” Phillips said in an interview recently.
