Commercial flights have a tendency to bring out the worst in some people. The stress of travel, and being crammed into a small seat near strangers can cause real crankiness among passengers.

For one business-class passenger on a flight from Moscow to Zurich the refusal of flight staff to serve her more sparkling wine was the last straw.

The pilot on the Airbus A320 made an unscheduled stop in Stuttgart, Germany, to drop off a woman who became aggressive when she was denied champagne, the Associated Press reported Sunday. When crew members were unable to calm the passenger the pilot made the decision to make the stop and have her escorted from the plane.

The passenger, identified as a 44-year-old woman from Switzerland, was ordered to pay 5,000 Euros ($5,871) for her outburst. The cost of the unplanned stop cost the airline up to "several tens of thousands of Euros," according to AP.

Such jets can usually hold up to about 150 passengers in the business and economy classes, but the Moscow-to-Zurich flight had just 43 passengers.
