Amazon (AMZN) will open the doors to its first brick-and-mortar clothing store later this year, where customers can shop for women’s and men’s apparel, shoes and accessories.

The first Amazon Style store will open at The Americana at Brand shopping destination in the Los Angeles suburb of Glendale, California.

Customers will be able to browse through a selection of brands they already know from the online marketplace as well as emerging designers in-store.

“Customers enjoy doing a mix of online and in-store shopping. And that's no different in fashion,” Simoina Vasen, the managing director of Amazon Style, told CNN. “There's so many great brands and designers, but discovering them isn't always easy.”

Vasen told CNBC that customers will be able to “find everything from the $10 basic to the designer jeans to the $400 timeless piece," adding, "We want to meet every budget and every price point.”

The store will span almost 30,000 square feet, CNBC said, and allow customers to send apparel they have selected to a fitting room using the Amazon Shopping app. The app can also be used to request additional sizes and styles be delivered to a fitting room.

By scanning a QR code, a customer can see an item’s available size, colors, ratings and additional product details, much like they can see online when shopping on Amazon.com. They can then opt to try the item on or send it to the pickup counter for purchase, where they can also use Amazon One – the company’s palm recognition checkout system.

The high-tech location will have double the number of styles compared to traditional apparel stores, Amazon said, without the need to sift through racks to find the perfect outfit. Instead, items are displayed without clutter, offering more looks in-store.

The Amazon Style store will also integrate personalization based on machine-learning algorithms that offer recommendations based on what a customer has previously browsed for in the store to provide a more tailored shopping experience.

There will also be in-store deals for customers to take advantage of what can be viewed with the Amazon Shopping app.

Items found in-store can also be purchased later online through the Amazon Shopping app by undecided buyers, and styles found at Amazon.com can be delivered to an Amazon Style store for pickup later or to try on in a fitting room. Online purchases can also be returned to a store if a customer is unhappy with their purchase.

Amazon said Amazon Style prices will be the same as the marketplace prices.

Wells Fargo said last March that Amazon has grown to be the No. 1 apparel retailer in the U.S., with estimated apparel and footwear sales in the U.S. rising by about 15% in 2020 to over $41 billion, as reported by CNBC.

As of Thursday's premarket hours, shares of Amazon were trading at $3,139.00, up $13.02, or 0.42%.
