Kevin Darnell Hart, the famous stand-up comedian, who met with an accident early Sunday is reportedly "able to walk." Hart was involved in a serious car accident during which he suffered severe back injuries.

Doctors are optimistic that he will soon recover fully but tests are being done to ascertain if he would need surgery, a report said quoting his associates.

Hart was in his 1970 Plymouth Barracuda with two others when it slithered into a ditch in Malibu, California.

A man named Jared Black was driving Hart’s 1970 Plymouth Barracuda when it rolled down the ditch at about 12:45 a.m. local time, confirmed California Highway Patrol to NBC News.

The accident happened as soon as the muscle car entered onto the Mullholand Highway. “Black immediately lost control of the vehicle and the Plymouth left the road and rolled over down the northern embankment," NBC News quoted CHP as saying.

The wrecked car trapped inside it Black, Hart, Rebecca Broxterman and another passenger whose name wasn't immediately known. Both Hart and Black suffered “major back injuries” and were rushed to the hospital, highway patrol confirmed.

Hart self-gifted the Plymouth Barracuda on his 40th birthday on July and made a public display of his excitement through an Instagram post captioned as- "I added some more muscle to the family for my 40th....welcome home 'Menace."

A video received through TMZ from the scene shows the miserable condition of the vehicle after the incident. The car hit wooden fencing, facing along the roadside directly and crushed through it before rolling down the ditch.

Bryan Cranston, a close friend and a colleague of Hart who shared the screen with him on 2017 comedy ‘The Upside’, wished for his speedy recovery. Bryan, 63, dedicated an Instagram post featuring a candid picture of the duo captioned as, “I’ve just heard that @kevinhart4real was injured today in a car accident in Los Angeles, Let’s all send him positive energy and healing thoughts. He’s a good human. Get well soon, brother. B.” The picture was taken at a press event for the film ‘The Upside’ in Los Angeles on October 20, 2018.

Kevin Hart’s accident has left many of his fans deeply saddened and they extended their support for Hart in their social media handles. A follower wrote, “My best wishes for a quick recovery and lots of positive energy !!”. Another fan, expressing his intense concern for Kevin, wrote, “I’m sorry to hear that. I’m praying for him. I’m hoping he recovers soon”.
