Original Story:

The cast of TNT’s “Animal Kingdom” showed up at SXSW 2017 on Sunday to promote their show. Ben Robson, Shawn Hatosy and Finn Cole were the cast members who attended the annual conference and music festival in Austin, Texas.

Robson, who plays Craig in the series, updated their fans regarding the event via Instagram. Based on Robson’s posts, he and the cast showed up early morning for an interview and the preparation of the installation that the show built on the corner of Congress and Fourth Street.

The installation was of a large surfing machine, and pro Flowboarder Sean Silveira was there to teach the cast how to ride the artificial waves. In “Animal Kingdom,” the Cody brothers were typically seen enjoying the waves or diving into the waters, but the promotional “pop-up beach” equipment was nowhere as tame as the sea. Silveira had to give some lessons to Robson and Cole, who plays the youngest Cody brother Joshua, before they could ride the waves on their own.

Weary, who gives life to Deran on the show, wasn’t able to attend the event. However, he did post about his castmates on social media. The 27-year-old actor-singer reposted a clip of Robson trying the installation that was originally posted by the official “Animal Kingdom” Twitter page. In the clip, Robson is seen doing a great job at Flowboarding until someone steps in to tackle him, and the two end up getting carried away by the sheet waves.

After engaging in some Flowboarding action, Hatosy and Cole did an interview with My Statesman to talk about host city. Since Hatosy has already been to Austin to film 1998’s “The Faculty,” he couldn’t help but compare the inland city then and now. “It was just such an amazing time to be here. To see the growth of the city and the festival, it’s very rewarding,” he said.

As for 21-year-old Cole, he is amused that they came to Austin at a time when the weather there is similar to London’s. “I like Austin even more,” the English actor said. “This gray weather is making me feel like I’m at home.”

“Animal Kingdom” is scheduled to return for its sophomore season on May 30.
