Anthropic’s Dario Amodei Made $18 Million Last Year: How it Compares With Other Tech CEOs.
Like many tech CEOs, Amodei received most of his compensation through stock, options and other awards rather than salary.

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei earned $18 million in compensation last year, placing the artificial intelligence executive in the middle of the pack among leaders of the world's biggest technology companies as his Claude AI developer prepares for a potentially massive public offering.
The compensation figures, disclosed in Anthropic's IPO filing and reported exclusively by Reuters, offer a rare look inside the finances of one of the most closely watched executives in the AI boom.
Anthropic is preparing for an initial public offering that could come as early as this fall and value the company at more than $2 trillion.
Amodei's package puts him above some household-name technology CEOs, including Alphabet's Sundar Pichai and Amazon's Andrew Jassy, based on their reported annual compensation. However, it remains well below packages awarded to some executives at Oracle and Nvidia and below the $22.8 million average compensation for S&P 500 CEOs in 2025, according to AFL-CIO data cited by the outlet.
Like many founders of high-growth technology companies, Amodei received most of his compensation through stock, options and other awards rather than salary. His annual salary, along with his sister and Anthropic President Daniela Amodei, doubled in July to $1.4 million.
Daniela Amodei received $16.4 million in total compensation in 2025, with stock and options accounting for much of the package. Anthropic's board has also granted both siblings restricted stock units that could deliver additional equity if certain conditions are met, including remaining with the company and completing the IPO.
Anthropic Chief Financial Officer Krishna Rao, meanwhile, earned $720,250 last year. Rao, who joined in 2024, was granted options to purchase 1.4 million shares and exercised options worth $385,285 during 2025. Anthropic declined Reuters' request for comment on the compensation figures.
Anthropic has seven co-founders, including Dario and Daniela Amodei, potentially spreading the wealth created by an IPO among a larger founding group than at some other technology companies.
Compensation among AI and technology executives varies dramatically. Oracle co-CEO Clayton Magouyrk earned $627.5 million in 2025, according to regulatory filings cited by Reuters. At the opposite extreme, Elon Musk received just $54,080 as SpaceX CEO before the company went public, although his enormous ownership stakes and equity-based incentives make annual salary an incomplete measure of his wealth.
Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai received $10.9 million in reported 2025 compensation, including $8.8 million for personal security. Using the SEC's "compensation actually paid" calculation, which incorporates changes in the value of unvested equity, Pichai's figure reached $213.9 million.
Amazon CEO Andrew Jassy received $2.1 million in disclosed compensation, largely involving travel and security expenses, while his "actually paid" figure reached $13.2 million.
