  • Some features are designed to better privacy and security

Apple recently announced iOS 14, the latest iPhone operating system designed to give users the best iPhone experience yet.

The new iOS 14 includes a slew of enhancements and new features designed to offer improved performance, better security and privacy, as well as enhanced privacy. Here are some of the new features Apple included in iOS 14:

Stacked Widgets

iOS 14 will let users place a stack of widgets on the home screen. It will also showcase particular widgets in the stack based on the time of day. For example, it will display the Health widget at night so users can review their activities. It will then display the Maps app in the morning to help users with their commute.

Mirror Selfies

Those taking selfies on an iPhone will notice that the device does not mirror images. With iOS 14, iPhones will be able to produce mirrored selfies – what users see in the screen while taking selfies is the actual photo they will get when captured. The feature, however, has to be enabled as it is disabled by default. Users will need to go to Settings to activate it.

Message Filters

Messages now has a new Filters meny that automatically organizes messages. It categorizes messages into several groups such as Known Senders, Unknown Senders, Promotions, Transactions, Promotions, and Junk. Sadly, the feature is only available in India, iPhoneHacks noted. It remains to be seen whether Apple brings it stateside as well.

Camera or Microphone Usage Indicator

Apple added a new feature that will let users know if an app is using the iPhone's camera or microphone. This is to help users know if an app is capturing images and recording audio or video without the user's permission.

Privacy Report in Safari Browser

Cupertino also added Privacy Reports to Safari in iOS 14. This will provide users with an overview of things happening in the background as they surf the web.

Security Recommendations

Apple added a new feature called Security Recommendations to iCloud Keychain. The new feature will alert users of data breaches and potential password leaks, and will display related accounts so that users can proceed to the website where the account is used so they can change the password.

Reminder to Charge AirPods

AirPods users will get reminders to charge their wireless earbuds on iOS 14.
