iPhone 8, Apple’s tenth anniversary iPhone, might be bigger than its predecessor, according to leaked dimensions of the phone, iDrop News reported Tuesday. The upcoming device might have 143.59 x 70.94 x 7.57mm (length x breadth x thickness), compared to iPhone 7’s 158.2 x 77.9 x 7.3mm dimensions.

The dimensions are indicative of a larger display — a 5.5-inch one, which would be a new development for Apple, since for the past three years, the company has only launched 5-inch and 6-inch devices. Furthermore, it is not just the display — the dimensions indicate that the iPhone 8 could have an entirely different form factor than its predecessor as the device will not be bigger but even slightly thicker.

iPhone 8’s size, if confirmed, also raises the possibility that Apple could come out with three iPhones this year — a 5-inch iPhone 7S, a 6-inch iPhone 7S Plus and a 5.5-inch iPhone 8.

The device is rumored to come with an edge-to-edge display, which entails that since it will have almost no bezels and a larger display, iPhone 8 will have more usable surface screen area than the iPhone 7.

Apple is also expected to endow the iPhone 8 with a display embedded TouchID fingerprint sensor, which would replace the traditional home button. According to Phone Arena. Apple might have a “Plan B” — in case, the display embedded fingerprint sensor cannot be implemented in time for the Fall 2017 launch, the company will put the TouchID at the back of the device next to the camera setup, just like the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus.

The device is also expected to have many new features such as:

A11 processor: Apple is expected to endow iPhone 8 with a 10nm A11 processor, which will make it more efficient than iPhone 7’s 14nm A10 processor.

Wireless charging: The device is expected to have glass frame, which could support long-range, over-the-air wireless charging

Vertical dual-lens camera setup: iPhone 8 is expected to have a dual-camera setup like iPhone 7 Plus, but with a slight difference — it might have a vertical setup, with a LED flash between the two camera modules.

Facial recognition and augmented reality features: The device is expected to support facial recognition using its front camera module, which has 3D imaging support. The same camera module is also expected to support augmented reality games and apps.

The iPhone 8 is expected to not just mark the milestone of a decade of iPhones, but rather, it is also indicative of Apple’s effort to match up to rivals like Samsung. In terms of features, the current Samsung Galaxy S8 flagship device is way ahead of the current iPhone — iPhone 7. With the iPhone 8, Apple is expected to try and compete with its Android rivals, which were until some years back behind the mark in terms of features, but the company has slowly and steadily edged it by endowing its devices with features such as a edge-to-edge display and a 10nm processor.
