Apple has announced a new repair program, which is targeted towards iPad Air 2019, also known as iPad Air 3. Some models of this 3rd generation iPad Air are having blank screen issue.

This worldwide service program is meant for iPad Air 2019 models that flash or flicker before turning blank permanently, according to the iPad maker.

“Apple has determined that, under certain circumstances, the screen on a limited number of iPad Air (3rd generation) devices may go blank permanently. A brief flicker or flash may appear before the screen goes blank,” the company wrote on their support page.

The affected iPad Air 3 was manufactured between March 2019 and October 2019. The company has announced that an authorized Apple service provider will service the eligible devices, free of cost.

Apple has outlined the service process for the affected iPad Air users. If your iPad Air is showing black screen issues, you can get in touch with Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider within two years of the product’s first retail sale. You can take your faulty iPad Air to the nearest Apple Store. It is advised to take a backup of the iPad to iCloud or computer before giving it for service. This iPad Air 2019 repair program is only limited to the blank screen issue, and no other problems like a cracked screen or general wear and tear will be addressed.

Apple released iPad Air 3 to bridge the gap between iPad and iPad Pro models. Many call it the semi-pro iPad. It is powered with the A12 Bionic chip with Neural Engine. The 10.5-inch iPad Air 3 comes with the iconic True tone technology and supports Apple Pencil and the Smart Keyboard. In terms of camera, the rear is an 8MP sensor while the front sports a 7 MP Facetime HD camera. iPad Air 2019 has a better screen compared to the entry-level iPad; moreover, it is cheaper than the Pro models. Also, Apple has retained the 3.5 mm headphone jack in iPad Air 2019.
