  • The announcement and release dates of new Apple devices have been leaked by a prominent tipster
  • Apple Watch, iPads and the iPhone 12 series will have a “staggered release,” leaker Jon Prosser says
  • He said the dates could still change

Apple's new devices now have specific launch dates, courtesy of a noted leaker.

Apple will be unveiling the new Apple Watch, iPads and the highly anticipated iPhone 12 series soon, according to a tweet coming from famed leaker Jon Prosser of Frontpage Tech. The tech tipster posted potential announcement dates for each device and even indicated when the iPhone 12 series devices might start shipping.

Apple could announce a new Apple Watch and iPad via a press release the week of Sept. 7, as per the leaker.

Prosser didn't specify which models these will be, but it's safe to assume that he was referring to the Apple Watch Series 6. The company may also announce minor revamps to iPad models that have not yet been refreshed.

According to Prosser, the Apple Watch and iPad will be announced via a press release separate from the iPhone 12 series reveal.

The move may seem odd considering how the company announced new devices together in the past years, but it's entirely possible. Apple recently did something new by releasing the watchOS 7 public beta to all consumers.

Regarding the iPhone 12 series, Prosser said Apple will announce it via an “iPhone 12 event” that could be held the week starting Oct. 12. He added that the Cupertino tech giant will start accepting preorders for the devices on the day of the announcement but will ship the devices a week later starting Oct. 19.

Prosser specified that preorders and shipping for the iPhone 12 Pro models will start at a later undetermined date within November. He indicated in a succeeding tweet that due to the “staggered release,” it is possible that the actual dates could “slip or change.”

Fans should note that Apple is expected to release four different models in the iPhone 12 series. Two of these are non-Pro models, dubbed the “iPhone 12” and “iPhone 12 Max.” These will come in 5.4-inch and 6.1-inch sizes, respectively, and will feature a dual rear camera setup.

There will be two Pro models, dubbed the “iPhone 12 Pro” and “iPhone 12 Pro Max.” These are coming in 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch sizes, respectively, and will feature a triple rear camera setup with a LiDAR scanner.
