  • Arteta’s Arsenal is currently fourth in the Premier League table

Arsenal legend Arsene Wenger believes that Mikel Arteta and his squad have what it takes to win the Premier League.

"I genuinely believe yes, because he looks to have a good grip on the team," Wenger told Sky Sports.

"They follow well, they are with him. We have bought well, spent a lot of money in the last two years. Suddenly we discovered huge resources - that was quite surprising," the 70-year-old added.

Wenger is confident that Arteta is equipped with a roster competent enough to haul success for the Gunners. Arteta has made Arsenal a formidable club in the past few years as it has won the English FA Cup and the English Super Cup under his leadership.

"I think he has the quantity and quality of players, yes we can go for it. Why not?" Wenger continued.

For 22 years, Wenger served as Arsenal’s manager and was able to bring success to the organization. He is the longest-tenured boss of the club and has served as an iconic figure for the Gunners. He led Arsenal to 1,219 matches with a record of 704 wins, 263 draws and 252 losses. This tallies to a total of 2,375 points for the organization from 1996 to 2018.

"It's still my club, it's still my love. I still suffer when we don't do well and I'm happy when we do well," Wenger explained.

"When I speak about Arsenal it's still 'we, we, we, we,'" he added.

The 2020 Arsenal squad now ranks at fourth place in the current Premier League table. In four games played, the Gunners have tallied three wins and only one loss.

Arsenal also scored eight goals with an average of two goals per match, with 17 out of 30 shot attempts on target. On the defensive end, the club conceded five goals and managed to have one clean sheet.

Arsenal’s next matchup will be against Manchester City on Saturday at the Etihad Stadium. Across 46 games the two clubs have played against each other, the Gunners hold the advantage of 23-13 wins while notching 10 draws in these matchups.
